Practice at Farleigh Dickinson University and Game 1
With a good night rest under our belt, we headed off to Farleigh Dickinson University for a morning practice session where we were met by the FDU coaching staff and two of our former CBA players, Sam Fernely, from Sheffield, England and Kamil Svrdlik, from Prague, Czech Republic. Sam and Kamil are currently on full athletic scholarships to FDU and are enjoying a wonderful first season.
Both players arrived at CBA in 2007 without any U.S scholarship opportunities and after a year of training were able to secure full bursaries! They were wonderful in explaining to our guys the ins and outs of the college life both on and off the court. We wish both Sam and Kamil the best of luck as they both know we always have them in our thoughts.
After practice it was off to lunch and then back to the hotel to rest before the evenings match against Edison Prep.
The Edison Prep- CBA match up would be a classic prep school battle as Edison Prep shot out to commanding 12- 2 lead after 3 minutes. CBA was able to regroup after the initial jitters and come back to take the lead (30-32, min. 3) late in the first half, only to see Edison Prep go on a 7-0 run to end of the half to take a 44-39 half time lead.
The second half proved to be just as exciting as the first half as both teams continued with the torrid and physical pace. Finally with just under 2 minutes to play Edison Prep went on a 6-0 run and secured the lead for good winning 95-87.
CBA was lead by Menelik Watson with 17 points and Ben Daniels with 15 points.
